Does anyone else have a preschool computer addict? Noah started using the computer about 1 1/2 years ago....just 5-10 minutes here and there while on our lap. Somehow, lately, he's learned how to navigate his way around several sites. If I let him, he would stay on the computer for 3 hours! Ridiculous. Does anyone know the recommended guidelines for computer use for a 4 year old? He can even get to the sites he wants in my bookmarks so I have to shut down Safari (or Explorer for the PC users out there). If I just leave my email up on the computer, he'll sneak onto it and get to noggin or pbskids or whatever. I don't know how someone who doesn't even read can do this. I must admit that I am slightly computer obsessed so I understand his desire to be "online", but now I'm competing with my child over computer time. Anyone else have this same issue?

Lincoln loves to play his games on the computer. He knows that he only gets to go online when the other two are napping. So, that leaves Monday's and Saturday's since he's in pre-school the rest of the week. There is sometimes an exception if I'm making dinner and need him out of my hair for a minute. He could play for hours though... our computer is in the basement so that makes it easier. Wish I could help more!
Cooper loves it too! He just wants to move from the computer to the TV to the Wii. I actually made a chart where he earns stars for 30 mins of electronic time. And then uses them throughout the day. It is so hard though, because if you don't let them do what they want to do, then YOU have to entertain them! Good luck!
I have the same problem with matthew. He loves Pre-school time online. He to only gets to play when Ashlie and Brandon are taking their naps. Somedays it's longer than others. Or if he want's to watch a movie, I tell him he has to choose between his computer time or tv time.
Wow, I can't believe Noah can work the computer so well. I already feel so outdated!! I can't believe how big he's getting-it doesn't seem that long since you moved, but man they sure grow up fast! What a cutie!
Hayden uses the computer a lot and has for years, but just recently we set him up with an account on the mac so that he can have his own site. You can then set up his bookmarks and make him a non admin user so that he does not make any changes to the computer that could end up causing bigger problems. Then you can also put his own desktop theme like ninja turtles or something. If you need help with how to do it let me know. As far as limiting that time, well, I leave that up to Tracey but if she has to get stuff done which is always, then type away my boy, type away.
