1st Day of School 2010-11

I can't believe I have THREE kids gone all day long now. Noah started 1st grade, Ben started Kindergarten and Isabella got into the Sure Start program at Killin Elementary School in Okinawa, Japan. They all ride the bus and are gone from 8:20am until 3:20pm. Can I just say how much I am LOVING being home with just Kate. It's divine. They each had a different start date so I waited until they were all started to post this post. I'm super happy with each of their teachers too. Yeah!

Noah was the first to start. He wasn't really excited about going to school, but he really likes his teacher, his classmates and being busy. I have no idea why he's wearing a sweatshirt since it was about 95 degrees this day.

Ben was next and had cautious optimism. He was tentative, but didn't vocally show it. After Day 1 he was his normal self, but you can tell the first day he was a little apprehensive.

Isabella was the last to start and was super excited. She said she wasn't nervous or anything (I would have been if I had to ride the bus at only 4 years old).

Outside our house on Issy's first day.

Rob stayed home from work to see her off so he's the family shot.

As soon as she got on the bus and saw how big it was she got really sad. They have a car seat for her (she's the only one on the bus who has to use one). She didn't know how to buckle it and both her brothers passed her by to sit with her. However, I gave Noah the evil eye and he went to sit with her. He tried to make her happy, but she looked pitifully sad as the bus pulled away. She's still sad the moment she climbs the stairs to the bus, but always comes bouncing home with a big smile on her face.
