What do you do in the summer?

We have pretty wicked cicadas here in Oki. They are LOUD (like I need to shout if I'm talking to someone outside) from early morning until early afternoon EVERYDAY for TWO MONTHS. They shed their exoskeletons and Ben thought they made nice nails. The next day he put the shells over the buttons on his shirt. That boy loves to explore and get dirty.

Noah passed his swim test this year. He had to swim 25 meters using a recognizable stroke (no doggie paddle), tread water for one minute and float on his back for one minute. He passed with flying colors and now sports this orange bracelet when we go to the pool. It means he doesn't need to have a parent in the water with him. Yeah! Now if I just wasn't required to be within arms reach of the other kiddos. They can all swim (except Kate) too, but not well enough to pass the swim test.

I hate food poisoning last week and Rob had to take over the cooking responsibilities. This is not is forte, but he presented an interesting meal. He made chicken rice-a-roni with (warmed) frozen veggies. There was also OJ for a drink along with soy sauce and Hershey's syrup as a dressing for the veggies/rice. Interesting. I do appreciate him taking over while I was laid up, though.

The quilt group I'm in is busy plugging out their quilt squares. We had a meeting (we have one a month) and it was super fun to see every one's progress. This is going to be SOOOOO sweet!

I just thought this pic was sweet of Rob and Isabella reading scriptures before bed.

Here's some video for the grandparents of the kids rockin' out to their rendition of Bon Jovi's "You Give Love A Bad Name". I love that Kate is even trying to dance. They are cute!
